NFL Draft Cornerback Rankings

How the draft market prices cornerbacks, what evaluators weight, and every class we cover ranked within the position.

How the market prices the position

Cornerback is a premium position because coverage is scarce and because the alternative to a good corner is a scheme that cannot rush four. Corners are drafted ahead of grade, and length has become close to a threshold trait, press-heavy defences will remove a corner from consideration on arm length alone, which distorts the board relative to pure performance.

What evaluators actually weight

Fluidity in the transition out of a backpedal, recovery speed when beaten, and ball skills at the catch point. Scheme fit matters more here than almost anywhere: a corner built for press-man is evaluated on entirely different criteria from one who will play off-zone.

The recurring failure mode

Ball production, meaning interceptions, is noisy year to year and rewards gambling as much as coverage. Corners who never got tested because quarterbacks avoided them can be badly under- or over-rated by the counting stats.
